HOLLY BARNARD

Hello :) I am a British Director, Theatre Maker and Digital Performance Artist. I hold a Master of Arts in Contemporary Performance Practice and a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre and Performance from the University of Kent.

Since 2018 I have been based in Berlin, where my practice has developed into mixing digital elements with highly theatrical techniques. My work ranges from intimate experiances in real life and in the virtual space to collaborations in large scale, feminist punk-pantomime performance. My work explores themes of intimacy, liveness and technology.

I’m interested in popular culture, kitch, ideas of risk, liveness and duration. She workes with the idea of co-presence - an encounter between the public and performance that co-exist in space and time.

I work alone and with a Berlin based theatre kollectiv - Thesmophoria. Founded in 2020, Thesmo Kollektiv is an international collective and comes from a variety of performance backgrounds, which contributes to our collagious and collaborative process. Our aim is to create something that is feminist motivated and accessible.

I also work with my artistic collaborator, Jonny Goode. Jonny and I are interested in themes of sexuality, identity and intmacy while using technology to explore these themes.
